Eating, Drinking and Cooking in South Jersey This Weekend (4/20-22)

Food events, wine events and cooking classes for the weekend.

Congrats to Chef Alex Capasso and his group at Blackbird in Collingswood for reaching their five-year anniversary! And to celebrate the moment, Blackbird will have a special three-course meal for $19.99 on Friday. For $5 more, you can throw in some foie gras for good measure. Nice.

This weekend will be the last few days for you to take advantage of Jersey Shore Restaurant Week. Participating restaurants in Ocean and Monmouth counties are offering three-course meals for $20.12 or $30.12.

Start out Saturday with the South Jersey Walk Against Hunger through Newton Lake Park in Haddon Twp. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the walk starts at 10 a.m.

The next installment of Film Food Fest will finally take place on Saturday at the Ashley-McCormick Center in Bridgeton. Theme will be Mexican, and the film will be ‘Like Water for Chocolate.’ Special guest Shelly Wiesman from Gourmet magazine will be helping to promote two new Mexican cookbooks.

Heritage Vineyards will be holding their annual Spring Wine & Cheese event on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.

On Sunday, enjoy a Wine Tour & Dinner in April starting at Andrea’s Trattoria in Newfield at 1 p.m. The tour will include Renault, Bellview and Coda Rossa.

The annual Mrs. Harker’s Tea takes place at Peachfield in Westampton on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

And Eat, Drink & Talk a Little Treason at Auburn Road Vineyard in Pilesgrove Sunday night from 6 to 9 p.m.

If you care to venture out of South Jersey…

This Saturday is the annual La Festa Italiana at the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friday: Classic Tuscan Dinner Party at Viking Cooking School at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, Date Night in the Food Studio: Off The Hook at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences in Loveladies, and Girls Night Out: An Evening with Julia at Sur La Table in Marlton.

Saturday: Italian Bread Workshop at Sur La Table, Cape Cuisine: Exploring the Pesach Meal for Passover at Cape May County Library in Cape May Court House, and Best of Class: Grilling Seafood at Viking Cooking School.

Sunday: Elegant Vegetarian at Sur La Table, Kids in the Kitchen: The Cupcake Corner at Kitchen Kapers in Moorestown, Knife Skills at The Culinary Arts Center of Burlington County College in Mount Holly. and an Elegant Spring Party at Viking Cooking School.
