Air Quality Alert Issued for Tuesday

State agency warns some may be affected by pollution concentrations

A Code Orange air quality alert has been issued for Ocean County by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection through Tuesday.

An Orange alert "means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups."

Children, the elderly and those suffering from asthma, heart disease or lung diseases may be affected by air quality conditions. The department recommends that these groups avoid strenuous activity and outdoor exercise.

Along with the alert, the National Weather Service expects today's high temperature to reach 88 degrees. Wednesday and Thursday may see temperatures in the mid-90s.
