BlueClaws Coming Home for Four-Game Stretch

Phillies affiliate fighting for playoff spot

There is one month to go in the South Atlantic League Season, and the Lakewood BlueClaws are right in the middle of a battle for a spot in the playoffs. After being on the road, the locals will make a brief stop back at FirstEnergy Park for a four-game series with the West Virginia Power.

As they do every homestand, the Claws are packing plenty of action into even this short series, especially off the field. The action starts tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. and if the weather plays along, there should be another Friday night fireworks extravaganza.

Saturday should be a memorable night at the park including the first 2000 fans 18 and older receiving long sleeve T-shirts. Saturday night is also scheduled to be the annual Irish heritage night that will include live music and the BlueClaws players and coaches donning special green jerseys. Those uniforms will then be auctioned off to benefit the team's charitable efforts. Also as part of the night there will be a pre-game performance by a local pipe and drum unit.

The game on Sunday is a 5:05 start and will be another kids character day with Buster welcoming some of his closest friends to town to help him entertain the fans in the stands. Kids at the game will also receive a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips and soda and the first 3000 fans will all get rally towels to help them root on their favorite players.

In the series finale, the BlueClaws will welcome a very special guest when the Phillie Phanatic will make the trip from the big league field to see what some of the best fans in minor league baseball have to offer. Much like the Sunday game, the children at the game will once again get a voucher for free food while taking in the contest.

After a four-game trip to Greensboro to wrap up the week, the BlueClaws will be back in town on Aug. 15 to kick off an eight game stretch of games at home. That will include four games against the Delmarva ShoreBirds and another four games against Greensboro.

According to the most recent schedule the Claws will wrap up their regular season at home starting Aug. 26 with a five game series against the Hickory Crawdads.
