Endurance Race Comes to Manchester This Weekend

MudManX will be held at the Cousins Paintball

An endurance race which draws its inspiration from nature's elements is coming to Manchester this weekend.

MudManX, an 8 or 10 kilometer course, is mean to "transport pariticipants back to the early days of mankind, when we were forced to battle with mother nature for our own survival," said Matt Vecchione, vice president of Precision Sports Entertainment, in a news release.

When participants take to the Jersey Shore 2.0 course on Saturday, July 28, at the complex, 750 Route 539 in Whiting, they will battle the earth, wind, fire and water. The wind obstacle — dubbed CaetgoryX — is the first of its kind and remains "top secret" until race day, according to the release.

"To finish a MudManX course, you will need to conquer the elements as each of our 20 obstacles are elementally inspired," said MudManX CEO Jason Heleotis in a statement.

All races are timed and the top three finishers in each category will receive cash and prizes. After the races, a day-long music festival featuring 20 New Jersey bands and DJs will be held, featuring food and beer, the release states.

Competitor Marcy Seymour of Toms River is 63 years old and recently has lost 30 pounds. Participating in a mud run challenged her mind and body.

"All my fitness training came together with this challenge," she said in a statement.

Most recently, a MudManX race was held in May at First Energy Park in Lakewood. Upcoming races this year will be held in New York and Texas.

Registration for the races, which begin at 9 a.m. and run each half hour throughout the day, closes on Wednesday, July 25, at 11:59 p.m. Fees are $95 for adult and teenagers ages 14-17. Spectators are $10.
