Lakehurst Flower & Garden Show Hailed a Success

Lakehurst Revitalization Committee Flower & Garden Show

The Lakehurst Flower & Garden Show was hailed a success.

The Lakehurst Flower & Garden Show held Saturday April 27 at the Community Center has been hailed a great success.  Hosted by the Lakehurst Revitalization Association, the show met its goals by bringing the small community of Lakehurst together for a fun and enjoyable day.

This fundraising event included local crafters and vendors including plant and flower sales, floral arrangements, birdhouses, wood carvings, and nature photography. The picture perfect weather welcomed many interesting and educational events including Jake’s Branch Park, Rutgers Master Gardeners, Northern Ocean County Recycling and the NJ State Dept of Forestry. Smoky the Bear and the Lakehurst Fire Dept talked to the children about fire safety. The Ocean County 4-H Clubs visited with baby goats, fuzzy bunnies, feathered friends, and Critter Craze.

For the children and young at heart, there was a Kidz Kraft Korner where they could create beautiful butterflies, paper flowers, cards, and miniature birdhouses along with a whimsical photo board for family photographs. Food was provided by the ever popular Tipperary’s Pub, Boemio’s, Philly Pretzels, and Angel Cakes Bakery.

The highlight of the day included a community “give back” project in which Mayor Harry Robbins and the Lakehurst Borough Council planted the Community Center garden with bushes and plants provided by John’s Landscaping.
