UPDATE: Man Drowns At Harry Wright Lake

A man drowned Sunday evening at Harry Wright Lake in Manchester Township, police said.

The swimmer was identified as 35-year-old Ramon Carabajo-Pinos of Hamilton.

Carabajo-Pinos had been swimming in the area of the floating dock with one of his young children when he suddenly went missing in the water. The child alerted Lifeguards and other swimmers at which time a search was initiated and Carabajo-Pinos was located, police said. 

At 5:34 p.m., Manchester Police received a 911 call for a report of CPR in progress at the Harry Wright Lake, located at 1499 Lake Road, police said.

At the same time the 911 call was being made, Manchester Police Patrolman Joseph Hankins, who was at the Lake for an unrelated call, was flagged down. Hankins and Patrolmen Robert Sharry and Scott Thompson determined that a swimmer had been pulled from the lake by other swimmers and Lifeguards.

CPR was initiated and the swimmer was transported to Community Medical Center, via ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

This incident is being investigated by Detective Al Vega as well as Detective Mike Cecchini, of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.  Also assisting with this investigation was the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.
