Power Outages Reported in Manchester, Lakehurst

JCP&L reporting outages as area weather conditions continue to deteriorate

Power outages have been reported throughout Manchester and Lakehurst as Hurricane Irene brings increasingly heavy rain and stronger wind.

Jersey Central Power and Light is reporting that 13,000 customers in central New Jersey are already without power as the initial outer bands of Hurricane Irene hit the shore area.

JCP&L spokesman Ron Morano said the outages are widely scattered around New Jersey's central counties, and are expected to increase as the night goes on.

According to the utility's estimated service outage map, as of about 11 p.m. Saturday, 459 customers in Lakehurst and 1410 in Manchester are without power. 

Manchester Patch Facebook users have reported outages in the Holly Oaks and Pine Lake Park sections of town.
