Fire Departments Host Benefits for Local Cancer Victim

Two events Saturday will help raise money for Alexis Mills' treatments.

The Manchester Volunteer Fire Company (MVFC) and Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) will each hold a fundraiser Saturday to try to help a local teen fighting cancer.

The benefits for Alexis Mills, who was diagnosed in July and had an operation to treat cancer in her mouth during the summer, run through much of the day Saturday—a benefit dinner, along with 50/50 raffle and gift auction at MVFC starts at 2 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m., while the LVFD’s Halloween party, which turned into a benefit event, runs from 6 to 11 p.m.

The MFVC dinner will be at the firehouse on Commonwealth Boulevard, with take-out available, while the Halloween party will be at the community center in Lakehurst, at 207 Center Street.
