Fundraiser Wednesday for Fallen Manchester Marine's Memorial Fund

Percentage of sales at Toms River Chili's will go to Cpl. Nicholas S. Ott Memorial Fund

When presented with a flyer, a portion of sales made at the Toms River Chili's on Wednesday will go toward the memorial fund of a U.S. Marine from Manchester who was killed in action last year. 

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 29, 10 percent of bill totals will be donated to the Cpl. Nicholas S. Ott Memorial Fund when the flyer in this article's media box is presented at the 1315 Hooper Ave. restaurant. Ott was killed in August 2011 while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province at 23 years old. 

"He gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can do something for him," said Township Council President Craig Wallis when he notified residents about the fundraiser during his report at the governing body's regular meeting Monday.

The fund, which was established by the Manchester Township Educational Foundation, helps to provide scholarships to students and pay for improvements to the township's high school. 

Ott, a 2006 graduate of , also will be honored during a . Township officials also plan to dedicate a street in his memory that day, though details still are being worked out, said business administrator Elena Zsoldos.
