Weekend Planner: A Car Wash, Yard Sales and Artist Reception

1. The works of local artist Joan Mabry will be displayed during a reception at of the Ocean County Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Mabry's style encompasses pencil, charcoal, oil and acrylic works and will be displayed in the library's meeting room throughout September. 

2. A yard sale and car wash will be held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd. in Whiting from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday Prices are $5 for cars and $7 for vans. Call 732-350-7391 for more information.

3. A residential yard sale will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1901 2nd Avenue in Manchester's Pine Lake Park section. 

4. Fall programs are in swing at the Robert J. Novins Planetarium at Ocean County College in Toms River throughout the weekend. Among the shows are "Legends of the Night Sky: Perseus and Andromeda" and "Exploring the Fall Sky." For the complete schedule and ticket pricing, visit the planetarium's website

5. The Lakehurst Historical Society will be open Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Housed in the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Ocean County on 300 Center St. in Lakehurst, the society maintains artifacts from the borough's rich history. A friendly staff is more than willing to provide tours and answer questions. Call 732-657-8864 for more information.
