Stand By Me Day Tradition Continues at Manchester Middle School

Stand by Me Day at Manchester Twp. Middle School was once again a day of inspiration for students, with about two dozen presenters speaking on topics including bullying, internet safety, careers, staying drug and alcohol free, and the importance of getting a good education.  The event has been an annual tradition at the school since 1997.

Keith Dunn, a former undercover detective and best selling author who has appeared on Oprah, the Today Show and the View, was one of the speakers.  He is one of the country's foremost experts on cyber safety and trains agencies throughout the country on the topic.  He provided the students with an arsenal of information to help them stay safe while using the internet, social media, and texting.

Keith Elias, former NFL Giants & Colts player, spoke to students about bullying, self-esteem and making good choices, using stories from his own personal experiences.  Elias has been working with students from the middle school and high school this year through the Heroes & Cool Kids program.

Another speaker was Allen Gabriel, who is a youth addiction counselor and author of two books, who spoke to students about self-worth and making good choices.
