The sad, sorrowful images of roadside memorials have become a part of the New Jersey landscape over the years. Drunk-driving, speeding and other hazards have contributed to the steady pattern of fatal crashes on the state’s most heavily travelled highways, such as the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike and Routes 1 and 9.
