Jane Kern, 85, of Leisure Village West, Manchester, died Tuesday, May 6, at home.
She was employed as a registered nurse for 10 years at Children's Specialized Hospital, Mountainside before retiring in 1994. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, the Nightingales, and the Linettes, all in Leisure Village West. Born in Rahway, she lived for most of her life in North Plainfield before moving to Manchester 22 years ago.
She is predeceased by her husband, James R. Sr., who died in 2009. Surviving are two sons, James R. Jr., of Pohatcong, Steven E. Phd, of Seattle, WA., three daughters, Kathy K. Varady of Salem, CT., Donna C. Schaefer of Brick, Diane K. Granada of Cranford, three brothers, James Reading of Carson City, NV., Bo Reading of Corona, CA., Edward Reading of Sparta, a sister, Kathy McLoughlin of Danville, CA., nine grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Visitation is Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester.
Funeral Liturgy is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at S.t Mary of the Lake Church, Lakewood, with entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
