Melvin Blumenthal, 83, of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully, in his home on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013. Mel was born on June 12th, 1930 in Asbury Park to Sam and Minnie Blumenthal. He is survived by his loving wife, Corinne, who he married in June of 1963; his six children, seventeen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Europe after WWII and he may be best known by the community for having founded and built Corinne Jewelers, which has been a part of the fabric of Toms River for the last fifty years. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the thousands of lives he touched, whether he pierced your ears, provided your engagement and wedding rings or just made you laugh, you knew Mel.

A gathering will be held on Friday, Dec. 27 from 12:30 p.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center, 99 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755-6423.
