Victor J. Pelillo, World War II Veteran, Dies At 88

Victor J. Pelillo, 88, of Manchester died peacefully on Monday June 2, 2014.

He worked for the City of New York as a Construction Supervisor for 20 years before retiring in 1986. Born in Bronx, NY, he resided in Flushing, NY from 1958-1981 before moving to Manchester 14 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943-1945.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and shuffleboard. He especially enjoyed his time with his family and friends fishing, boating, and clamming at his summer home in Hampton Bays, Long Island. He also enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City.

He is predeceased by his wife Joan in 2005 and sister, Dorothy DiPasquale. Surviving are his daughters, Donna Gorski & husband Richard of Mantua, NJ and Susan Smith & husband Joseph of Hockessin, DE, brother, Richard of Lakehurst and granddaughter Jessica Marie Smith of Sicklerville, NJ.

Visitation is Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road in Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Friday 10 a.m. at St John’s Church in ,Lakehurst with interment to follow at Brigadier Gen. Wm. C .Doyle NJ Veteran’s Cemetery, Arneytown.
