MANCHESTER BOARD OF EDUCATION


JULY 23,2014

Sixteen million bucks is the cost of new roofing, air conditioning and security for the district’s 4 buildings and the voters will vote on whether to authorize the improvements on a September 30 special election. New Jersey will kick in $6 million if the mandate is approved and the remainder, a 15-year bonding costing the average homeowner $19 per year.

The Business Administrator said in recent years repairs have band-aidish and N.J money will disappear if we don’t act. He suggested past grime problems were caused by inadequate equipment

Seventeen new teachers were hired, 3 were new positions and the remainder replaced retirees or replacements. There were 200 + applicants..

Approved was High School curriculum foe Advanced Placement English Language and AP Probability and Statistics

Manchester’s 2014 budget was $48 million, N.J. contribution $5 million +, and .student count 3100+

The board has 8 members and 3 positions will be decided in the Nov 4th election. Candidates have until July 28th to file their applications at the Ocean County Clerk’s Office

The board voted unanimously to exclude Public Participation at this meeting.
