Slow down in my town

I see my child off to the bus in Pine Lake Park most mornings and it seems that increasingly there are impatient drivers who feel the need to lean on their car horns in frustration over being “inconvenienced” at having to wait for the children to board.  For those of you, men and women alike, who feel the need to vent in this way, allow me to express the angst of Manchester parents like me who are offended that you find it such an hardship to allow our children a moment to get safely buckled in their seats and our faithful bus drivers and aides the time to assure that this happens.  If you’re a parent in our town I am hoping you know better so I am not talking to you.  If you’re not a parent, you’re still responsible for the safety of your neighbors and their children as long as you live among us.  If you’re not from our town and just happen to be reading this and you’re just one of the many who use our neighborhood as a shortcut between Rt 37 and 571, I ask that you don’t.  It is a residential neighborhood, not a speedway, so leave earlier to get where you’re going.  But if you must use our streets be respecful of our kids.  I know I am not a lone voice out there so I ask my fellow Pine Lake Park parents who share my concerns to report aggressive driving in our town so we can keep our kids safe.  To the bus drivers who faithfully execute your job of getting our kids safely to school despite the rude drivers that you share the road with, I thank you.
