I have spoken to the office of Representative Chris Smith on the subject of gun control several times. His staff reported that he supports gun control. When I asked for his office to comment on the Newtown atrocity I was told that he did not want to be seen as trying to make news by speaking up on this issue while emotions were high. He is a supporter of the "Brady Bill''. I find it difficult to reconcile our Representative's passionate stance of "Right to Life" issues while remaining dispassionate about the murder of first grade children and their heroic teacher protectors. I can accept the fact that his office believes that life begins at conception. I do not accept his office denying the beliefs of others who do not agree on this point.
