The boy was trying to cross Route 70 on a skateboard, police said.

A 14-year-old boy had to be taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center after being hit by and stuck under a car while skateboarding in Lakehurst Thursday, police said.

The 14-year-old was trying to cross Route 70 near Lilac Street just after 1:30 p.m. when he crossed in front of a Toyota Corolla driven by Marisa Buquicchio, 54, of Brick, who was unable to stop, police said.

The boy was initially trapped under the car, police said, but good Samaritans were able to pull him out before police and paramedics arrived on the scene. The boy's condition wasn't released.
