Three Indicted on Charges of Passing Counterfeit Notes

Ocean County grand juries hand up indictments

Several local residents have been indicted on charges of passing counterfeit money at stores in Manchester and Toms River.

Richard A. Young, 61, Magdelena J. Kubiak, 29, and Daniel S. Hanlon, 45, were indicted last week by an Ocean County grand jury and accused of multiple counts of uttering a forged instrument.

Young, a Whiting resident, has been charged with passing notes at in Manchester Sept. 24 and 28 and at WaWa in Manchester Sept. 25.

Hanlon, a Lakewood resident, was charged with Young at the WaWa Sept. 25 as well as at Stop & Shop Sept. 28. He also is accused of passing bad notes at 7-11 in Toms River Sept. 17 and at WaWa in Toms River Sept. 25 and Oct. 13.

Kubiak, an Ortley Beach resident, has been charged with passing counterfeit money with Young at Stop & Shop in Manchester Sept. 24.

All three suspects are free on bail.

Grand juries also indicted:

  • Katilyn Fahey, 29, of Whiting on burglary, theft and dealing in stolen property charges.

Fahey is accused of breaking into a Manchester home in December, stealing jewelry and other items and selling them in the township.

She was released on her own recognizance.

  • Nathan D. Burner, 27, of Forked River on an aggravated assault charge.

Burner is accused of throwing a "bodily fluid" at Manchester Patrolman Brian Collins on Christmas, the indictment states. He is free on bail.

  • Michael S. Maribo, 40, of Whiting on two bad check charges.

Maribo wrote two checks ($3,000 and $4,500) on June 7 off a PNC Bank account that he knew PNC would not honor, the indictment states. He is free on bail.
