Six people were arrested on drug or drunken-driving charges—and in one case, both—in the last 10 days, landing three of them in jail, according to the most recent statistics from the Manchester Township Police Department.
James W. Gallagher Jr., 61, of Forked River, Heather M. Gallagher, 31, of Manchester, and Daniel Greco, 49, of Manchester, were all taken to the Ocean County Jail after being unable to post bail when they were arrested late last week.
Both Gallaghers were arrested on Route 70 on Dec. 20 and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, though police didn't immediately disclose what drugs prompted the charges.
Greco was arrested Dec. 21 on Toren Road and also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
That same day, Douglas E. Manning, 25, of Manchester, was arrested on Lacey Road and charged both with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a summons.
Michael S. Wayda, 40, of Hamilton, was arrested several days before that, on Dec. 16, and charged with driving while intoxicated after being stopped near the intersection of Route 530 and Congasia Road. Wayda was also released on a court summons.
