84-Year-Old Woman Dies In Whiting Crash

Woman was not identified

An 84-year-old Whiting woman died in a motor vehicle crash Monday, police said.

The accdent occurred at approximately 2 p.m., police said. The victim, whose next of kin had not yet been notified by press time, received help at the scene from the Whiting First Aid and Paramedics from MonOc.

She was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River where she was pronounced dead.

The victim was traveling south on South Columbus Boulevard in a 2006 Buick Lacrosse prior to the crash.

Her vehicle attempted to turn left onto Route 530 when it was struck by a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria, which was driven by William O’Hara, 84, of Toms River. O’Hara was traveling east on Route 530 at the time of the crash.

O’Hara received help from the Quality Medical Transport at the scene, but refused further treatment.

The crash is under investigation by Ptl. Douglas Higgins of the Traffic Safety Section. Assisting at the scene where the Manchester First Aid, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CIU and the Ocean County Road Department.
