UPDATE: Driver in Route 571 Crash Taken to Hospital with Serious Injuries

Connecticut man was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune following crash with township resident

A Connecticut resident remains in the hospital after the car he was driving collided with a vehicle operated by Manchester man this morning along Route 571.

According to Ptl. Antonio Ellis, 74-year-old Kevin Reddington of Ridgefield, Conn., was driving a 1999 Cadillac STS on Tenth Avenue when he collided with Justin Overton, 34, of Manchester, who was traveling eastbound in a 2005 Nissan Altima the county roadway at about 10:20 a.m.

Both cars went off the road near Emilio's Pizza following the impact, with Reddington's vehicle striking a tree on the westbound side of Route 571.

Reddington was taken to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune by Quality Medical Transport and MONOC paramedics, where he was listed in serious condition with multiple fractures, a head injury and internal injuries, police said.

Overton was taken by Quality Medical Transport to Community Medical Center in Toms River. He suffered minor cuts and abrasions and was released, according to police.

The crash, which slowed traffic until about 11:45 a.m., remains under investigation by Ellis.
