ATV Rider Suffers Head Injury in Off-Road Crash

Thomas Starace was riding near Manchester Township High School Saturday.

An ATV rider suffered a serious head injury and had to be airlifted from a crash at the Heritage Minerals property early Saturday afternoon, Manchester Township Police said.

Thomas Starace, of Parlin, NJ, lost control of his Yamaha YFZ 450 while off-roading on the property just after noon, not far from Colonial Drive and Manchester Township High School, and was thrown from the ATV, police said.

Starace hit his head in the crash and had to be flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center by MONOC paramedics. His condition wasn't immediately available.

The Manchester Volunteer First Aid company and Manchester Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the crash, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Unit was also called in to the scene.

The crash is under investigation by Ptl. O’Hare of the Manchester Traffic Safety Division.
