Berkeley Man In Critical Condition After Manchester Crash
Traffic detoured for two hours after crash
A Berkeley Township man was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center Saturday after a two-car crash at the intersection of Route 37 and Colonial Drive, police said.
Police said Angelo S. Butler, 33, Lois Lane, Lakewood, was traveling westbound on Route 37 and James Dowd, 79, Oranjestad Street, was traveling southbound on Colonial Drive. The two cars collided after Dowd tried to make a left turn onto Route 37 East, police said.
Dowd was listed in critical condition as of Saturday night. Butler was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for minor injuries, police said.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that the cause of the crash is a result of failing to stop for a red signal," according to a press release. "Possible cell phone use while driving is also being investigated as a contributing factor of this crash."
The release does not say who went through the red light.

Traffic at the intersection of Route 37 and Colonial Drive was temporarily detoured for roughly two hours, police said.
The Manchester Fire Department, Manchester First Aid Squad, Quality First Aid, MON-OC paramedics, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office assisted.
