A motorist fell asleep at the wheel early Saturday morning while driving on Route 539 in Manchester, and then struck a utility pole with his vehicle, say police.
At approximately 2:58 a.m. this morning, 18 year-old Kevin Lindner of Bordentown, New Jersey was driving his 2007 Toyota Scion southbound on Route 539, when fell asleep, according to Captain Lisa Parker of the Manchester Township Police Department.
“Subsequently, the vehicle drifted across the northbound lane and into the grass, striking a utility pole. The pole was snapped off at its base, and the vehicle flipped over multiple times coming to rest on the passenger side. Mr. Lindner was able to exit his vehicle prior to the Manchester Township Police arriving, and was later transported to Community Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and released,” said Parker.
Lindner was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, which led to him leaving the scene with only minor injuries. The accident is currently under investigation by Patrolman Danny Barker of the Manchester Township Police Department.
