Drug Charges Issued After Manchester and County Officers Search Home

Search warrant executed Wednesday at Harrison Place home

police, along with members of the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team and other agencies, on Wednesday executed a search warrant at a Summit Park section home and charged a man with multiple drug offenses. 

The court-authorized search warrant was executed at a single family home on Harrison Place, a street located just east of Colonial Drive off of Route 37, said Capt. Lisa Parker in a statement.

There, Parker said that police charged Joseph L. Alex Jr., 62, with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) with intent to distribute, one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alex was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River on $50,000 bail, according to Parker. 

In addition to Manchester police officers and regional SWAT members, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit and MONOC paramedics also responded to the scene.

SWAT members are called in for assistance in certain high risk scenarios when fast action is required, such as when police believe a suspect may attempt to dispose of drugs upon the arrival of police, Parker has said.
