Brief: Gas Leak Forces Evacuation of Cedar Glen Home

Evacuations on Willow Street occurred on March 30

A home in the Cedar Glen section of Manchester was evacuated after police responded to multiple emergency calls.

Manchester Police responded to a Willow Street residence on March 30 on the report of a fall victim. Prior to arriving at the scene, police received another call saying that gas was leaking at the residence. 

According to Capt. Lisa Parker, Ptl. George Smith, Ptl. Michael Terranova and Sgt. Mark McClellan arrived and noticed a "strong odor of natural gas coming from the unit."

Officers then evacuated the building and members from the Ridgeway and Manchester Volunteer Fire Companies, Manchester First Aid Squad and New Jersey Natural Gas were dispatched to shut off the gas supply pending further investigation, Parker said. 

No injuries were reported and arrangements were made for displaced residents, Parker said.
