Groom, Mother Arrested at Lakehurst Wedding Reception

Three arrested in total after fight at La Bove Grande

A groom and his mother were among the three arrested at a wedding reception that became out of hand at a Lakehurst restaurant and banquet hall Friday.

Lakehurst Sgt. Ronald Heinzman and Ptl. Jeffery Emmons responded to a call that 12 people were fighting at at about 10:08 p.m. on Sept. 9.

"Upon arrival, there were people in the parking lot yelling and screaming, however the initial fight was over," Heinzman said in an email. "In addition to the activity in the parking lot, there were unrulry patrons inside the building where a large wedding was taking place."

Police and La Bove management decided to shut down the wedding reception. As guests left the building, the groom, John H. Britton, 28, of Bayville, was charged with defiant trespass for refusing to exit and also disorderly conduct, Heinzman said. 

Other local authorities, including the Ocean County Sheriff's Department, and police from , Plumstead, Toms River and the Department of Defense were called to assist because of the large crowd, Heinzman said.

Britton's mother, Denise J. Blare, 46, of Brick, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction while in the restaurant parking lot. Guest Alexander J. Castillo, 32, of Alexandria, Va., was charged with disorderly conduct, according to Heinzman. 

The three have an Oct. 5 appearance date at the Lakehurst Municipal Court, Heinzman said.
