Indictment: Manchester Lowe's Cashier Stole from Customer Bank Accounts

Incidents occurred in November and December

An Ocean County grand jury last week indicted an Ocean Gate woman on two theft charges, alleging that the former cashier stole from customers at that store and the nearby . 

Lauren A. Hand, 23, is accused of stealing wallets from two women at the supermarket in Manchester on or about Dec. 2, as well as withdrawing more than $500 from the bank accounts of four other Manchester residents from Nov. 30 to Dec. 7. She was issued a summons.

As a cashier at the home improvement store, Capt. Lisa Parker said that during November and into December, Hand retained customer credit cards after purchases were made and later used them to make withdrawls from a local ATM.

Hand was charged with four counts of credit card theft, four counts of theft by deception and four counts of computer criminal activity, according to Parker.

Dennis Amend, 60, of Winchester Court on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while suspended.

Amend was arrested Sept. 30 in Lakehurst and accused of driving while he was on his second DUI-related license suspension.

He remains jailed on $10,000 bail, no 10 percent option.
