Indictment: Manchester Man Tried to Kill Wife

Leisure Village West resident remains jailed since spring 2011 arrest

A Leisure Village West resident remains jailed on charges of attempting to kill his wife with a knife.

, 60, of Thornburry Lane was indicted last week by an Ocean County grand jury on charges of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (knife, hammer) and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.

O'Sullivan was accused of stabbing his 61-year-old wife in the chest April 27 and injuring her hand during an altercation, police have said. The wounded woman called 911 herself and sought refuge in a neighbor's home, where she was treated before police and paramedics arrived.

The Manchester resident initially was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with chest injuries after police said he stabbed himself in the chest after allegedly trying to kill his wife. Upon discharge, he was charged by Manchester police and has remained in Ocean County Jail.

Bail remains set at $250,000, no 10 percent option allowed. Should O'Sullivan make bail, he is probibited by the court from having any contact with his wife.
