Lakehurst 2013 Crime Drop Mirrors Manchester

A slight increase in 2012 was followed by a big drop-off, according to State Police statistics.

Lakehurst’s crime rate dropped by more than a third between 2012 and 2013, mirroring a similar drop in Manchester Township in the same time period, according to Uniform Crime Report (UCR) statistics released by State Police.

The tiny borough’s crime reports didn’t touch triple digits either year, but a slight uptick in 2012—from 67 reported crimes to 71—was followed by a major drop-off through all of 2013, according to a mix of finalized and preliminary statistics.

Lakehurst saw just 46 reported crimes last year—a drop of about 35 percent—fueled mostly by a drop in simple assaults and thefts.
