Lakehurst Police Charge Two With Drug Possession During Traffic Stops

Police issued the charges last Sunday

Two routine traffic stops in Lakehurst last weekend led police to charge the drivers with drug possession.

A Camden County man was charged with drug possession following a Route 70 traffic stop on March 25. Chaz Walker, 20, of Voorhees, originally was stopped by Officer Robert Seiden for an equipment violation, but police then found that he was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, said Sgt. Ronald Heinzman. 

Walker also was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, Heinzman said.

After being processed at , Walker was released on summonses pending a municipal court date. Seiden was assisted by Sgt. Brian Baranyay and drug recognition expert officer from Toms River, Heinzman said.

That same day, Officer Raymond Vosseller charged 18-year-old Manchester resident Antonio Thomas Jr. with marijuana possession during what began as a traffic stop for an equipment violation along Route 37.

Thomas also was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was processed at police department headquarters and released pending a municipal court date, Heinzman said. 

Patrolman Matthew Kline assisted Vosseller with the arrest, Heinzman said.
