Man Remains in Critical Condition Following Saturday Route 70 Motorcycle Crash

Crash occurred Saturday afternoon near Manchester Plaza

The Burlington County man injured in a Saturday afternoon motorcycle crash near Manchester Plaza remains in critical condition, a hospital spokesperson said Tuesday afternoon.

Wayne Adams, 64, of Wrightstown remains at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was transported by helicopter following the crash, said Maureen Gillespie, the hospital's public relations manager.

Adams was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson westbound on Route 70 at 1:36 p.m. when witnesses say a "small white car" carrying two passengers turned left into the Manchester Plaza entrance. Adams braked to avoid the car, according to Parker.

"No impact occurred between the car and the motorcycle; however, this rapid braking caused the motorcycle to flip end-over-end," Parker said in a statement.

Parker said Tuesday afternoon that police have not located the white car and there have been no leads as to its whereabouts.

The motorcycle tumbled and impacted a 1995 Ford Explorer travelling eastbound on the state highway, shattering the car's rear driver's side window. No one in that vehicle was injured, Parker said.

Adams' crash was the first of two motorcycle incidents over the weekend. On Sunday, after the bike they were riding was struck by a car on Route 571. A sign at the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company states that cars and motorcycles should "share the road."

"Be respectful — be safe," it reads.

Police ask that anyone with information on the identity of the driver in the white car contact the  Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-657-2009, ext. 4400. Patrolman Thomas O'Hare of that bureau is investigating the crash, Parker said.
