Man Injured When Car Strikes Bike Along Colonial Drive

A Manchester man was injured Monday afternoon when he was struck by a car while riding his bike along Colonial.

Kenneth Jackson, 31, of Spruce Drive, was riding his bicycle along Colonial Drive when he was hit by a Honda Accord at about 2 p.m., according to Capt. Lisa Parker.  

The vehicle was operated by Karl Hill, 56, of Douglas Drive. Hill was attempting to turn right onto Colonial Drive from the Route 37 exit ramp at the time of the crash, Parker said.

Jackson was treated at the scene by Quality Medical Transport and transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for further evaluation, the captain said.

“Manchester Police would like to remind all drivers to be vigilant for the presence of bicyclists, motor cycles, and pedestrians while operating their vehicles,” Parker said in a statement. “Additionally, all bicyclists need to obey all traffic regulations.”

Jackson’s vehicle sustained damage and was towed from the scene. The crash remains  under investigation by Traffic Safety Officer Paul Bachovchin, according to Parker.
