Driver in Route 70 Crash Had Heroin, Police Say

Samrina Elly, of Lumberton, faces multiple charges after being arrested Wednesday.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on drug charges after she was involved in a crash on Route 70 in Manchester Wednesday, police said.

Samrina Elly of Lumberton Township was arrested and charged for possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic needles, police said.

Elly was arrested by Officer Joseph Fastige after she allegedly rear-ended another car on Route 70 near the Manchester Township Department of Public Works Garage,

The vehicle was stopped on Route 70, waiting to turn, police said. 

During the crash investigation, Elly was found to be in possession of 35 glassine envelopes containing suspected heroin. Various types of drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles were also seized in the investigation, police said.

Elly was arrested and later transported to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 full cash bail. Officers Christian Nazario and Joseph Reilly assisted in the investigation.
