Manchester Man Faces Drug Charge Following Stop at Toms River McDonalds

Man allegedly found with heroin in his sock, according to police

A Manchester man faces numerous charges including drug possession after police responded to an intoxicated driver report at a Toms River McDonalds over the weekend. 

Officers Michael Foy and Wallace Polhemus from that town's police department responded to the fast food restaurant located near the intersections of Routes 9 and 70 at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, said Toms River Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

After an investigation, Manchester resident William Rome III, 33, was placed under arrest and charged with driving while intoxicated, the chief said.

After the DWI arrest, officers found a substance believed to be heroin in Rome's sock. The man ultimately was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, DWI and reckless driving, Mastronardy said.
