Manchester Man Indicted in Assault Case

Indictments handed up by the Ocean County grand jury

A Manchester man and an Old Bridge man have been indicted in a New Year's Day assault that seriously injured a man.

Luis A. Perez of Manchester was indicted on a sole count of second-degree aggravated assault, along with Dominick Mauro of Old Bridge, in connection with the Jan. 1 assault of Michael G. Coughlin in Stafford, by an Ocean County grand jury last week.

The indictment accuses the men "purposely did attempt to cause, or purposely or knowingly did cause, or under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, recklessly did cause serious bodily injury."

Both men have posted $50,000 bail, with no 10 percent, according to the indictment.

  • Keith York of Whiting, on counts of third-degree burglary and third-degree theft, for allegedly breaking into a Philadelphia Avenue home on Dec. 23 and stealing jewelry and cash valued at more than $500. York was released on $5,000 bail, no 10 percent, on Dec. 28.
  • Holly M. Dean of Whiting, on two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, for allegedly having cocaine and heroin on Nov. 25 in Lakewood. She was released on a summons.
