Manchester Man Left Barnegat Burger King Bathroom, Charged With Heroin

A 25-year-old Manchester man has been arrested in Barnegat on heroin possession charges after he visited the Burger King bathroom, police said.

According to Barnegat police:

On March 17th at 3pm, Patrolman Nicholas Venuto arrested Joseph Sly, 25, of Whiting on drug charges. Ptl. Venuto was at the Burger King located on West Bay Avenue on an unrelated call when he observed Sly enter the bathroom with another male subject.

Sly left moments later without ordering any food.

Ptl. Venuto made contact with Sly outside the building and after a conversation and investigation determined that Sly was in possession of heroin. Ptl. Venuto recovered four wax paper folds of heroin and took Sly into custody.
Sly was charged with possession of heroin and was processed and released pending a court date.

Possession of heroin and he was charged and released? And we wonder why it is such a problem. That is just ridiculous!
