After making the trip from Manchester to Freehold a pair of Ocean County residents found themselves in hot water after a shopping trip at the JC Penney’s at the Freehold Raceway Mall.
Ellen P. Taylor, 30, and Julia P. Bobek, 64 were indicted on three counts by a Monmouth County Grand Jury for incidents in the area between May 28 and May 31 of this year.
The first count of the indictment was for third degree conspiracy after they are alleged to have agreed to commit shoplifting on or about May 31. The indictment alleges that Taylor attempted to conceal merchandise and take the store without paying for them.
Bobek is then alleged to have attempted to return the stolen merchandise for money and gift cards, according to court documents.
The second count of the indictment is for third degree receiving stolen property for taking bed sheets and or purses and shoes valued at $500 belonging to the store knowing it had been stolen.
They were also indicted on one count of third-degree shoplifting for attempting to take items from the store valued at more than $500.
