Manchester Police Chief Plans Law Enforcement Talks At Library

Officials from the Manchester Township Police and Ocean County Library are teaming up for an important six-part monthly public safety series.

“Staying Safe in Manchester Township,” a free series about law enforcement, emergency services and public safety, will kick off at the 21 Colonial Drive library on Monday, June 2 when Chief of Police Brian Klimakowski talks about the Division of Police and the issues facing residents.

“These library programs will give the residents of Manchester Township an overall understanding of what the Division of Public Safety does to serve our community on a daily basis,” said Klimakowski.

“We’re always looking for ways to increase the unmatched transparency of the Manchester Township Police in showing residents how we operate. This series of programs offers those insights, as well as valuable information on how we all can remain safe,” Klimakowski said.

A Public Safety representative will be on hand at each session to help residents enroll in the NIXLE emergency notification system. This system is used by officials in Manchester and throughout the state to instantly update residents about emergency situations through text message and email alerts. Each “Staying Safe in Manchester Township” session is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., one Monday per month, and is open to all ages. Registration for each session is requested and can be completed by calling 732-657-7600 or visiting www.theoceancountylibrary.org. Those who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

Monday, June 2

Law Enforcement Operations

· This session will feature information about the Division of Police’s organization and the issues facing our community. Police equipment will be on-site for the public to view.

Monday, July 7

Emergency Medical, Fire and Office of Emergency Management

· Officials will talk about Manchester’s emergency response crews and how residents can keep themselves safe.

Monday, August 11

School Security and Safety

· Attendees will learn how Manchester has prepared our schools for potentially dangerous intruders and what is being done to combat bullying.

Monday, September 8

Crime Prevention

· This session will teach residents how they can avoid falling victim to scammers.

Monday, October 6

Internet Safety

· Information about preventing Cybercrime and a parents’ guide to Social Networking will be among the topics of discussion at this session.

Monday, November 17

Driver and Traffic Safety

· Officers will speak about staying safe on the roads and the initiatives aimed at preventing dangerous crashes.
