Manchester Woman Suffers Face Injuries in Early Morning Single-Car Crash

Township woman crashed into a tree in Pine Lake Park early Friday morning

A Manchester woman suffered serious injuries to her face when the sport utility vehicle she was driving crashed into a tree in the township's Pine Lake Park section early Friday morning.

Katherine Lewis, 31, was travelling northbound on Northampton Boulevard when the 2003 Saturn Vue she was driving left the roadway, cut across the lawn of 400 Northampton Blvd. and ultimately struck a pine tree at about 5:37 a.m., said Capt. Lisa Parker in a statement.

"Ms. Lewis was found unconscious and regained consciousness upon the arrival of responding officers," Parker said.

Lewis was travelling alone and an investigation by police found that Lewis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Parker said.

MONOC and Quality Medical paramedics treated Lewis at the scene. Though a medivac helicopter was called to fly Lewis to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, overcast skies forced her transport by ambulance. Lewis is listed in stable condition, Parker said.

Northampton Boulevard remained open following the crash and traffic was not affected, according to Parker. Patrolman Thomas O'Hare of the police department's Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash.
