Morning Car Fire Briefly Shuts Portion of Route 37

Car caught fire near Fit Golf Range

Manchester Police reported that a car fire shut a portion of Route 37 this morning near the Fit Golf Range.

According to Capt. Lisa Parker, Sgt. James Dellane, Ptl. Paul Bachovchin and Ptl. George Smith responded to the call at 11:49 a.m. Upon arriving on scene, the 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe was "fully engulfed in flames," Parker said.

"It was immediately determined that the sole occupant of the vehicle had exited without injury," she said. Parker reported that the fire appears to have ignited in the car's engine.

Route 37 westbound was closed while crews from the Manchester and Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Companies extinguished the blaze. The roadway has since reopened.
