Monday Night Crash Closes Portion of Route 70, Driver Charged with DUI

Crash closed the state highway's eastbound lane overnight

A portion of Route 70 was closed Monday night after a Pennsylvania man who was allegedly driving under the influence struck a utility pole along the state highway.

Manchester responded to the single vehicle crash at mile marker 39.5 at about 10:54 p.m. on Sept. 12., according to information released by Capt. Lisa Parker.

The driver, identified by police as Nicholas Angelico, a 55-year-old from Levittown, Pa., was traveling eastbound when his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole. Angelico, who was uninjured in the crash, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence by Ptl. Peter Manco.

The eastbound lane was closed from about 11 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday while repairs to the pole were completed, police said. Drivers were detoured around the scene by way of Manchester Boulevard and Route 539, both of which intersect Route 70.

Ptl. Ian Bole investigated the crash, according to police.
