Philadelphia Man Killed in Car Accident on Route 70 in Manchester

Jason Feliciano died as the result of a head-on collision Saturday night.

A Philadelphia man is dead following a two-car accident on Route 70 in Manchester Saturday night, police said Sunday morning, May 5.

Jason Feliciano, 28, died as the result of a head-on collision while attempting to pass several cars. He was driving east on Route 70 in a 2001 Honday Accord when he switched over to the westbound lane in an attempt to pass several cars in front of him.

He collided with a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, being driven by Elizabeth M. Froelich, 54, of Browns Mills. Feliciano was traveling with his girlfriend, Janoris Baez, 23, and three children, ages 4, 5, and 6. The children were not in proper restraints, but were wearing seatbelts, according to police.

Feliciano was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he was pronounced dead around 7 p.m.

Janoris Baez injured her head and neck. Lian Gonzalez- Baez, 5, was uninjured.

Sheilianis Fuentes-Baez, 4, was reportedly injured, and Angel Torres, 6, suffered a serious head injury, according to police. All were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Froelich was alone and suffered injuries to her arms, wrists and collar bone, police said. She was transported to Community Medical Center.

The Lakehurst Fire Department, the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Quality Medical Transport, Whiting First Aid, MONOC Paramedics, CIU, New Jersey State Police, New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office all assisted at the scene.

The crash is under investigation by Ptl. Douglas Higgins, Ptl. Patrick Cervenak and Ptl Ian Bole of the Manchester Traffic Safety Section.
