Fischer Boulevard in Toms River closed Friday evening between Yellowbank and Hooper Avenue because of another raging brush fire, police said.
Please use alternate routes.
The brush fire – unrelated to the massive blaze that is still burning but contained in Beachwood and Berkeley Township – was the second blaze to hit the area in two days. A brush fire closed a portion of Fischer Boulevard in Toms River on Thursday for about an hour.
Like Friday's fire, Thursday's blaze closed the roadway between Yellowbank Road and Hooper Avenue, but reopened between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
"The fire was concentrated to the area of Fischer Blvd. and Pumpshire Avenue on the eastern side of the roadway," said police spokesman Ralph Stocco.
Two sheds in the rear of a home on Pumpshire were damaged by the Thursday blaze, Stocco said.
