Pine Lake Park Vehicles Damaged in Weekend Incidents

Manchester Police report that five vehicles were struck by rocks; search continues for suspects

Five vehicles in the Pine Lake Park section of Manchester sustained over $500 in damage each last weekend when they were struck by large rocks, police reported today.

According to the Manchester Police Department, four vehicles were targeted from the evening on March 19 and the early morning on March 20. A fifth vehicle received similar damage the following day. The incidents occurred on Lake Drive, 12th Avenue, Lawrence Avenue and Monmouth Avenue, police said.

Police said that the vehicles, which were parked and unoccupied at the time of damage, appear to have been randomly targeted. Vitims reported hearing the sound of a passing car, followed by a "loud bang indicating that the rocks were thrown from a passing vehicle," police said.

Two vehicles are being sought by police in connection with the incidents. The first is "an older model dark in color SUV," which may have been been a box-style Jeep Cherokee occupied by "four white male subjects in their mid-to-late teens," police said. The second vehicle description is a dark-color hatchback that may have a modified exhaust system.

Police request that anyone with information regarding the incidents contact the Manchester Township Police Detective Bureau, which can be reached by calling the department at 732-657-2009.
