Pole Fire Closes Portion of Route 70, Knocks Out Power

Traffic being detoured, JCP&L on scene

A portion of Route 70 was closed between Buckingham Drive and Ridgeway Road due to a utility pole fire Sunday morning. Traffic was directed to Route 37 to go around the closed portion of the road.

According to police, one of the cross arms of the pole snapped, sparking the fire and knocking out power to part of Leisure Village and Leisure Knoll.  

Police said that JCP&L crews responded to the scene.

The state diversion team helped to direct traffic and set up detours until the road was be reopened, police said.

JCP&L has two trucks on scene and are working to get power restored as quickly as possible, police said.
