Police Blotter: Drug, Assault and Theft Charges Issued

Recent police activity in Manchester and Lakehurst

A traffic stop for a Spring Lake woman in Lakehurst ended with her facing drug charges.

Kathryn S. Collins, 27, was stopped on Route 37 east at the borough's boundary with Manchester on Friday by Patrolman Jeffrey Emmons after he suspected a motor vehicle violated, said Sgt. Ronald Heinzman. 

When speaking with the driver, Emmons smelled marijuana coming from the car, Heinzman said.

"Upon further investigation, Collins was arrested by Emmons and charged" with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, Heinzman said.

Collins, who was also charged with a vehicle equipment violation, was processed at police department headquarters and was released with summonses for a municipal court date.

Sunday, March 25

Jonathan T. Loehwing, 18, of Manchester was arrested and charged with drug possession on Holly Hill Road by Patrolman John Decker. Loehwing was released on a summons, Lt. Vincent Manco said. 

Tuesday, March 27

Police charged Debrah L. Vantine, a 33-year-old from Little Egg Harbor, with theft and fraud on Chilvers Avenue. Manco said that Patrolman Michael Lynch issued the charges and Vantine was released on recognizance.

Saturday, March 31

Donald R. Flett, a 64-year-old man from Manchester was charged with assault on Beech Street by Patrolman Michael Anderson. Flett was released with a summons, Manco said.
