Police Blotter: Motor Vehicle Stops Lead to Outstanding Warrants, Drug, DWI Arrests

Manchester Township Police Department report recent arrests

Lt. Vincent Manco of the Manchester Township Police Department reported these recent motor vehicle stops, all of which led to arrests for various violations.

* On December 28th at 6:40 p.m., Ptl. Brian Volk of the Manchester Township Police Division’s Patrol Bureau stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. During the stop and investigation it was learned that the operator, Phillip Scheller, age 35, of Forked River, had multiple outstanding arrest warrants from Newark, Jersey City, Union City, and Waretown. Scheller was subsequently arrested, processed and later released from custody on his own recognizance pending court in the above jurisdictions.

* On December 28th at 8:36 p.m., Ptl. Anthony Iliadis of the Manchester Township Police Division’s Patrol Bureau conducted a motor vehicle stop which led to the arrest of Joseph Sly, age 23, of Manchester. During the course of the investigation, Sly was found to be in possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of two knives. Sly was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sly was later released after posting $2,500.00 bail.

* On December 29th at 1:30 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Fastige and Ptl. Brian Volk both of the Manchester Township Police Division’s Patrol Bureau conducted a motor vehicle stop for a Failure to Maintain Lane violation. During the course of the investigation the driver, Kyle Cannon, age 20, of Toms River, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Cannon was subsequently processed and later released pending court. Ptl. Brian Collins, also of the Patrol Bureau assisted with the investigation.
